Twenty Weight Loss Tips for 2014… To Infinity and Beyond!

1. Its not about a weight loss program… – its about fat loss for personal fitness, personal health and self love. Chances are if you are Googling weight loss, you’re just a tad frustrated with status quo.

2. Skip the fad diets, weight loss foods, lose weight fast programs, exercise gadgets, weight loss supplements, focus on redesigning your life and finding true love within yourself. Its not a “diet plan” its a life plan.

4. Wear a pedometer… the simplest way to boost your health… the truth serum of activity

Pole Fitness As a Sport

Pole dancing has evolved over the last decade, becoming a popular workout and an organized gymnastic competition. There are people that think poling is provocative; that it’s only associated with stripping and gives a sexual connotation. But, what people need to see is that pole dancing could be considered a sport. There are many pole dance studios around the world, making the sport not only national, but international as well. Many students of the dance studio admit that pole dancing is a great way to exercise, get fit and it also inspires and empowers them. There are many reasons why pole dancing should be recognized as a sport and perhaps one day become an Olympic sport.

Wouldn’t it be amazing if a pole fitness athlete wins an Olympic medal? Before pole dancing could be considered a sport it must be administered by an international federation which ensures that the sport’s activities follow the Olympic Charter. If it is widely practiced all around the world and meets a certain amount of criteria established of the IOC’s, and eventually draft an official petition for consideration by the international Olympic committee. The International Sports Federations are international non-governmental organizations recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as administering one or more sports at world level. The national federations administering those sports are affiliated to them. While conserving their independence and autonomy in the administration of their sports, International Sports Federations seeking IOC recognition must ensure that their statutes, practice and activities conform to the Olympic Charter.

Poling is an innovative and trendy way of working out. It depends on significant upper body strength, flexibility, and body endurance. Pole dancing is not your typical gym exercise. It lacks the need of heavy equipment. The only weight it requires is your own body’s mass. This sport can be geared towards toning muscles, and classes can make women feel athletic yet artistic and confident at the same time. Pole fitness is for women of all shapes, sizes, ages, and backgrounds. Women have been looking for a change in their exercise routines and pole dance provides that modification. The sport develops self-confidence and healthy bodies all over the world.

Timothy Trautman, President of the International Pole Sports Federation was recently interviewed with “Buzzfeed” he said that he would love for pole fitness to be in the 2016 Olympics. Tim goes on to say, “having pole dancing in the Olympic Games is the only way for people to realize that pole dancers are incredible athletes: “They have such grace and elegance and they absolutely belong in the Olympics. But we do fight the stereotype that it’s for strippers.” “We have to take some of the eroticism out of the moves and also take off the high heels.” “We’re going to frame it as these are athletes that you’re watching”, Trautman says. (Stewart/ Trautman, It’s Gonna Be a While Before Pole Dancing Is in the Olympics)

There were a total of 12 new events that debuted at 2014 Sochi Olympics. The ski halfpipe (men’s and women’s), ski slopestyle (men’s and women’s), snowboard slopestyle (men’s and women’s), snowboard parallel slalom, women’s ski jumping, biathlon mixed relay, a new figure skating team event and luge team relay. In hopes, with time pole dance will make it to a list of debuts. The Arnold Sports Festival 2014 is paving a way for pole fitness to be introduced to the world as mainstream. For the first time, pole is going to be featured at a major event.

Like most of the events featured in the Sochi Olympics this year, pole dance competition administrators hold strict requirements for its competitors that must be followed to compete. Based on the article Pole Dancers Buff Image with Rules and a Dress Code, among the written regulations there is no dancing in an overtly erotic manner. No rear end shaking and no hats, canes and anything that is not considered attached to the costume. The federation’s rules frowns upon anything that falls off a dancer. They mandate disqualification for intentionally removing items of clothing, ban costumes from being used in an erotic manner and require neckline of no lower than eighty (80) millimeters from clavicular notch. (Gulyas, Pole Dancers Buff Image with Rules and a Dress Code).

We have to continue to spread awareness so that everyone will know that pole dancing should be an Olympic sport. Mainly because it is truly as difficult a sport as gymnastics or ice skating, pole dancers train tough and there are pole dance fitness communities fighting to make it to the Olympics. I strongly believe that good conduct within a pole team can also contribute to each pole dancer’s personal growth, so why not encourage it? Pole is a lifestyle for many!

Shrink Your Waist Faster With Exercise and a Green Tea Dietary Supplement

It’s been a long held view that it was impossible for you to zone in on a particular area of your body – like your waist – to reduce fat. Countless publications have denounced this idea of “spot reduction” as wishful thinking or worse, a scam used by unscrupulous advertisers to con gullible members of the public.

A recent study suggests we may need to revise our views – at least when it comes to combining exercise with a green tea dietary supplement. For 12 weeks in this study, over weight men and women each day, drank a green tea extract beverage that contained 625 mg of substances called catechins plus caffeine. They also kept their calorie intake steady and exercised at a moderate rate on a treadmill for 45 minutes 3 times a week.

When their waists were measured using computed tomography, the men and women who drank the green tea and caffeine beverage lost more fat from their waists than members of a control group, who followed a similar exercise and calorie control regime, but whose daily drinks contained caffeine but no extract. So taking a green tea extract plus aerobic exercise does seem speed up the speed of fat loss from your waist area.

To cash in on this waist thinning effect, it appears that you need to drink get the right ratio of green tea catechins and caffeine. So you would want to get close to the 625 mg of green tea extract and 39 mg of caffeine per day. In the study drink there were 8 different catechins, including 214 mg of the vital EGCG (epigallocatechingallate) that has been proven to increase the rate that you burn fat, when caffeine is present.

The amount of essential EGCG varies in loose leaf tea so a capsule may be the easiest way for you to match the EGCG dosage needed. And because most green tea capsules contain up to 200 mg of caffeine, you’ll need to choose your product with care. Two manufacturers produce a green tea dietary supplement that comes close to the EGCG and caffeine rato with only 16 mg of caffeine per capsule. The study allowed people to drink a little coffee each day, so if you love your coffee you could drink 1 cup a day (100 mg caffeine) and be within the caffeine guidelines.

This study has yet to be replicated so its findings are still provisional. Green tea is proven to speed up the rate that fat burns and if you’re putting in the exercise time and controlling your food intake, its an enticing chance to get extra rewards for your efforts. As excess abdominal fat is an important risk factor for cardiovascular disease you’ll be promoting a better heart and feeling better about how you look and feel.

Start A Personal Training Business Right Now

The personal training business is booming out of control. There is a great demand for many more fitness trainers. This equals opportunity. More money is being made in the fitness business now than any other time in history. If you want to become a personal trainer, the time has never been better.

The main reason the fitness training industry is exploding is because the demand for personal trainers is at an all time high. This is all attributed to the obesity epidemic, increases in life expectancy, and a massive desire to live the best quality of life possible, as long as possible.

So who do these aging baby boomers turn to? Professional fitness trainers. Why? Because consulting with a personal training business will assist clients at getting results much faster than if they do it on their own.

Personal trainers, who hold a personal training certification, are highly qualified at creating effective, efficient, and safe exercise programs. They also provide support, and motivation for the fitness participants who just needs that extra push. Fitness trainers really keep clients focused on accomplishing their specific goals, day in and day out.

Fitness trainers make a huge impact on peoples lives. In return, they are rewarded extremely well. The average professional fitness trainer makes between $50 – $100 plus per hour of consulting. The health benefits seen by working with a trainer are well worth the investment. After all, clients are investing in their health, fitness, and overall well being. It is well worth the price of admission!

So there is money to be made in the personal trainer industry. However, it is crucial for fitness trainers to plan their business before training the first client. There should be a clear cut, focused business, and marketing roadmap in place before they take in their first dollar bill.

However, what is even more important is a proper personal trainer education. You don’t want to start a fitness training business if you are not qualified to do so. This only cheats fitness training clients, and hurts the personal training industry as a whole. Therefore, I highly recommend investing in the proper personal training course, and certification so you have book knowledge to back up your practical fitness knowledge.

The more personal trainer training, also known as continuing education, the better! Successful personal trainers never stop educating themselves on exercise physiology, business, and most importantly, marketing of personal training.

If I had to mention one of the most important skills you need to master to make money as a personal fitness trainer, I would say marketing your personal training business. Marketing is what is going to bring in the dollars, not an extensive knowledge of exercise physiology. Therefore, invest more time in the marketing of personal training.

There is no better time than now to become a personal fitness trainer. Be entering the fitness business industry at the beginning of a giant growth phase you can ride it all the way to the bank.

The 5 W’s of Marketplace Health Insurance

Knowledge based on the 5W’s of marketplace health insurance should serve as a reliable foundation for understanding and choosing coverage which meets the qualifications of the Obama health plan. The 5W’s stand for what, why, who, when and where.

What is marketplace health insurance?

Marketplace health insurance is coverage obtained through one of the governmental health insurance exchanges which provides a minimum standard of benefits known as the essential health benefits as specified by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, referred to by many as ObamaCare. The plans are sold by private insurance companies and generally are HMO and PPO plans. Each plan has a metal designation of bronze, silver, gold, or platinum, depending upon services covered and the actuarial value of the plan. Marketplace health insurance plans cannot deny coverage or charge a higher premium for pre-existing illnesses. They cover some preventive care services.

Why purchase marketplace insurance?

The answer to this question rests in Affordable-Care-Act subsidies, also known as premium tax credits, and whether or not you qualify. Eligibility for Affordable-Care-Act subsidies is based on annual household income provided that income is at least 133% but less than 400% of the federal poverty level beginning in 2014. The premium tax credit calculation is based on a provision of the Affordable Care Act that no American should spend more than 9.5% of household income on medical insurance premiums. Given that provision, Obama-health-plan insurance could be purchased outside of the marketplace from a broker or insurance company. The dollar amount of the annual premium in excess of that allowed under the Affordable Care Act for a given income level could then be claimed as an end-of-the-year deduction during income tax filing. If the coverage is obtained through a health insurance marketplace however, the credit can be applied to the monthly premium of any Obama-healthcare-plan selected, resulting in a lowering of the monthly premium of the plan.

Who is eligible to purchase marketplace insurance?

Marketplace health insurance through the federal or one of the state insurance exchanges is for individuals and families less than 65 years of age or small businesses with 50 or fewer employees. Eligibility includes United States citizenship and/or legal residence. Additionally, one must not be incarcerated.

When does having medical insurance become mandatory, when can I enroll, and when does the penalty for not having insurance take effect?

January 1, 2014 is the date that most United States citizens and legal residents must have medical insurance coverage or suffer a tax penalty of $95 per adult, $47 per child, or 1% of the annual household income (whichever is greater) if one is uninsured as of January 1, 2014 and coverage has not been obtained by February 15, 2014. Open enrollment will extend until the end of March 2014. If you have a qualifying life-changing event however, such as marriage, relocation to another state, loss of job-based insurance or expiration of COBRA coverage, marketplace insurance can be obtained as an exception at times after the closure of the open-enrollment season in March 2014 and in subsequent years.

Where can I purchase marketplace insurance?

If you reside in a state whose health exchanges operated by the federal government you will need to purchase through that exchange. Alternatively, marketplace health insurance can be purchased through a private health insurance exchange if it has contractual authority granted by the federal government to enroll Obama health plan applicants. As of December 1, 2013, residents of the District of Columbia and states with state operated insurance exchanges must obtain marketplace medical insurance through the state exchanges. Those states are Those states are California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington.
